The Guard of Pomegranate captures the smooth flow of imagination within a mythical fruit. Originally titled Jinn: The Guard of Pomegranate, the name was changed to allow the striking expression in the girl’s eyes to speak freely, making the work more open to interpretation.

Cracking a pomegranate —
A smile is born on her leather skin,
Laughter blooms within your eyes.
With your fragile fingers, you tear the olden veil.
A thousand naked ladies,
Ruby-crowned,

You break the pomegranate —
Fruit-blood splashes upon your gaze.
Not the blood — this is ink,
For me to portray your eyes.
